The aim of this faculty is to make sure that everyone can use ICT to solve problems in all subjects. Everyone in the school has access to the school network and to the Internet for research purposes. All students are responsible for keeping their user areas tidy and deleting work no longer needed. You are also responsible for using the equipment sensibly and making sure that others do as well. IT2 is available every lunchtime and after school for students to complete work. See Mrs Browne at breaktime to book a computer.

During this term, you will be looking at databases and collecting and analysing information. You will learn what a hypothesis is and how to make and test one.
Summer Term
Your summer exam will be this term. You will have a written test to see what you have remembered about IT. There will also be a practical test on the computers to see how well you can follow instructions. For the rest of the term, you will be learning about control and use some special software to write instructions for different situations. You will also have a project to work on. |

| Year 9 |
|
This is a very important year, we have to give you a key stage 3 level of achievement at the end of this year. You should know what level you are on. Find out what you have to do to get to the next level.
Everything you do this year is going to concentrate on you improving your use of IT. Remember that IT is not just using the equipment, it is knowing what you want, selecting the best programs for the job and, most importantly, PREPARATION. Before you do anything on the computers, you must have planned out what you are going to do and how you will be doing it. The next most important part is EVALUATION. That is looking at what you have done and commenting on what you did and how it could be improved. You will be doing various projects this year to show your understanding of the above in a variety of situations. |
