The AQA syllabus is the basis for this two year GCSE course. Child development is concerned with the knowledge, skills and understanding required to form relevant and informed opinions about the birth and development of a child. Opportunities will be given to investigate, organise, communicate and evaluate using appropriate problem-solving and decision-making skills. The scheme of assessment comprises of two components. A written paper worth 50% of the total marks and an in depth written piece of work based on a child study worth 50% of the marks. The observational visits must be carried out over a minimum period of six months. |
