SCHOOL UNIFORM AND CLOTHING POLICY
Our school uniform policy requires the support of parents. The ‘contract’ between the school and parents makes it clear that parents are obliged to provide the required school uniform as set out below. All students are required to wear regulation PE uniform for all PE and Sports, which must be purchased from the official school suppliers.
Students are expected to wear their uniform with pride. Uniform appearance should be neat and tidy, with shirts and blouses tucked in. Students are to travel to and from school in the correct school uniform and to wear it appropriately during the school day and at all school functions.
Plain Navy Blue / navy overcoat
No decoration or large logos are permitted. Leather, plastic, denim jackets and ‘fashion coats’ are not allowed. Coats, scarves, hats and gloves are not to be worn in school. Sweatshirts/‘Hoodies’ of any description do not qualify as ‘coats’ and may not be worn and will be confiscated.
The school recommends the purchase of the Blue Prostar Hurricane waterproof jacket as the school coat.
Skirts
Plain Dark Grey skirt that is not cotton or canvas type. Skirts should be worn no more than 5 cm above the knee and no longer than mid-calf length below the knee (shortness of skirt is measured from the kneeling position). Skirts with slits at the front or the sides are not considered suitable for school. Students are asked not to wear skirts from elastic type fabric. Fashion skirts or ‘Ra Ra’ type skirts are not permitted
Tights
Girls should wear flesh coloured or plain black tights. Patterned tights are not permitted.
Trousers
These are to be traditional or boot leg style. Drill cotton, canvas or elastic type material is not permitted. Students are not to wear decorative belts or combat style trousers. Trousers must come to the ankle. Cropped trousers are not permitted.
Knitwear (Jumpers, Cardigans, Sleeveless jumper)
These are to be the school jumper only. This is to be worn every day. No other jumpers will be permitted. These can only be purchased from the school uniform supplier.
Boys’ and Girls’ footwear
Footwear must be plain black.
Boots of any kind are not allowed.
Heels over 2cm are not allowed.
No platforms, sandals, sling backs, fashion or patent shoes are allowed.
Trainers or trainer style shoes are accepted.
Bags
Students need a large plain bag in which to carry their schoolbooks and materials.
Hair
A student’s haircut is a very important part of their presentation. The school will not accept students having extreme haircuts, e.g. mohican, shaved hair less than a grade 1. Students are not allowed to have extreme hair colours. Colour change should appear natural. Shoulder length hair should be tied back for all practical lessons. The school reserves the right to place students with extreme hairstyles in the inclusion room.
Make up
Make up and nail varnish are not permitted.
Jewellery
Students may wear a wristwatch and one pair of stud earrings (one in each ear). Students may wear a cross for religious reasons but it may not be visible. Students with medical conditions can wear an identity tag. All jewellery must be removed for Physical Education.
For this reason any student intending to have piercing done must do so at the start of the summer holidays.
The school cannot accept responsibility for the safe keeping of jewellery. Any inappropriate jewellery will be confiscated and placed in the school safe.
Piercing
Students are not permitted to wear any form of facial or body piercing with the exception of one pair of studded earrings – one in each ear.
Students who persistently violate these rules will be placed in the inclusion room and the school reserves the right to exclude them.
