School Uniform and Clothing Policy Print Page

Please be aware that we at St Peter’s High School have changed our School Uniform. The new uniform is obligatory for all New Year 7 students in September 2008 and compulsory for the rest of students by September 2009. Click here for details of the new uniform.

Our school uniform policy requires on the support of parents. However, the ‘contract’ between the school and parents makes it clear that parents are obliged to provide the required school uniform as set out below. All students are required to wear regulation PE uniform for all PE and Sports which must be purchased from the official school suppliers.

Students are expected to wear their uniform with pride. Students are to travel to and from school in the correct school uniform and to wear it appropriately during the school day and at all school functions.

Plain Black / Navy Overcoat

No decoration or large logos are permitted. Leather, plastic, denim jackets and ‘fashion coats’ are not allowed. Coats, scarves, hats and gloves are not to be worn in school.

Boys’ and Girls’ Shoes

Shoes must be plain black and leather
Boots of any kind are not allowed.
Heels over 2cm are not allowed
No platforms, sandals, trainers, fashion or patent shoes are allowed.

Bags

Students need a large plain bag in which to carry their school books and materials.

Hair

A students haircut is a very important part of their presentation. The school will not accept students having extreme haircuts, e.g. mohican, shaved hair less than a grade 1. Students are not allowed to have extreme hair colours. Colour change should appear natural. Long hair should be tied back for all practical lessons. The school reserves the right to place students with extreme hairstyles in the inclusion room.

Make up

Make up and nail varnish are not permitted

Jewellery

Students may wear a wristwatch and one pair of stud earrings (one in each ear). Students may wear a cross for religious regions but it may not be visible and must be removed for Physical Education. Students with medical conditions can wear an identity tag.

School Uniform and Equipment Shop

School ties and badges are only available from the school. All other uniform is available from ‘Yours in Sport’, 164 Station Road, Burnham-on-Crouch.

All items should be clearly marked with the student’s name.
