Cricket update...

....a year 8 team played Brentwood School in the mid Essex cup. St Peter's started well dismissing the opposition in under 20 overs. This was only the second time this year that Brentwood had not survived their overs (and they had played more than 2 matches). However our batsman could not capitalise on their good bowling and fielding and although they lost the players can be proud of themselves.

Cricket win...

....by a combined year 7/9 team against William de Ferrers. St Peter's scored 88 for 2 in their overs (well done to Terry for his 35 runs). In reply WDF scored 78 for 6 with honours shared among the bowlers. An excellent first match.

Gospel Choir at BBC Essex

On Sunday 2nd March, our Gospel Choir performed live on BBC Essex as part of their breakfast show.  The choir performed three songs in the BBC Mobile Studio Garage at the BBC Essex Studios and the performances were absolutely great.  Many parents and staff turned out so we performed with a sizeable audience considering it was 8am on a Sunday morning!  Well done to all staff and students for their excellent performances. Music Competition

On 19th and 20th November, music students from St. Peter’s High School took part in the Plume School Music Competition. Click here to find out how well they did and when you can listen to them on Saint FM.

6th Form Students To Take Part In The Bar National Mock Trial Competition.

The Bar National Mock Trial Competition has been running since 1991 and this year will involve over 200 schools and nearly 3000 students across the UK. This active learning competition is based around a live format held in real courts across the UK were students are judged by legal professionals on their performance in two specially written cases. Students take on the roles of lawyers, witnesses, court staff and jurors and are assisted by legal professionals both in their preperations and on the day of the heat.

This takes place on 17 November 2007.

Examination Results 2007

Highest ever pass rates for St Peter’s!!

St Peter’s High School is absolutely delighted with the record GCSE results achieved by our students. 52% achieved 5 A*-C grades, a tremendous rise of 23 percentage points compared to last year. This easily surpasses the previous school record of 40%. 34% achieved 5 A*-C grades including English and Maths, a rise of 13 percentage points.

This year group is the first to benefit from our innovative curriculum that includes a wide range of vocational and applied courses and increased emphasis on the basics of literacy & numeracy.

Remarkably, 30% of our students achieved between 10 & 14 GCSEs and equivalent at A*-C, a huge increase of 76% and 23 percentage points compared to 2006.

The GCSE and equivalent grades of our top scoring students are:

Josephine Challis – 14, 10 at A/A*

Josie Beal – 14, 8 at A/A*

Robyn Steward – 14, 6 at A/A*

Hannah Ryan – 13, 8 at A/A*

Bethany Stanford – 13, 7 at A/A*

David Jones – 12, 8 at A/A*

James Anderson, 12 7 at A/A*

Timothy Bettenson – 12, 7 at A/A*

We are very pleased with the A level results achieved at St Peter’s High School this year; even better than last year’s record! We are absolutely delighted with this outstanding pass rate, the best ever for the school. This pass rate of 99% confirms the ever-improving trend in our examination results. 50% of our students achieved 4 or more A levels. All subjects bar one achieved a 100% pass rate. Our average points score also increased once again. This demonstrates the benefits of a smaller local Sixth Form with very high standards of student care and monitoring.

More than two thirds of this year’s sixth formers applied to go on to university and we are particularly pleased that the great majority of those who have applied have obtained the grades to meet their conditional offers.

Particular congratulations for their A level performance go to:

Lewis Bell, who achieved 5 A levels, 3 at A or B grades

Jamie Stone who achieved 5 A levels, including a B grade

Lauren Moore who achieved 4 A levels including an A & B

Credit must go to the students for all their industriousness throughout their courses, as well as to the hard work of their teachers and of their parents for their ongoing support. The school wishes our students every success in their future education and careers.
